Protein powders build muscle no matter what

This is actually a very common myth associated with protein powders, and sadly it is not true. In an ideal world we would be able to build muscle just by simply chugging down a protein shake and barely lifting a finger, but in reality, in order for the protein to help you build muscle, you must ensure you are putting in the hard work in the gym.

Protein powders are steroids

Again, this is sadly a very common myth and there is NO truth to it whatsoever. Individuals who truly have no clue what they’re talking about in regards to protein supplements, will claim that they are a type of steroid when of course they aren’t. Whey protein, which is the most common and popular type of protein supplement, is derived from milk and so is obviously not a steroid.

Protein powders cause nasty side effects

Some people will avoid using protein powders when trying to get in shape for fear of suffering from nasty side effects. In reality however, there are virtually no side effects associated with protein powders at all. If you consume far more than recommended, you may then experience digestive issues, but generally, if used as instructed, protein powders provide no harmful side effects at all.

Only bodybuilders use protein supplements

Again, this is not true. Whilst protein powder supplements are ideal for bodybuilders as they help promote muscle growth and repair, protein powders can benefit absolutely anybody. Many protein supplements are enriched with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, making them very good for people simply looking to clean up their diets. On top of that however, athletes and physically active individuals can also benefit from protein powders, as the protein helps the muscles to repair themselves and recover after strenuous physical activity.

All protein powders are the same

This is often the excuse used by people to try to justify purchasing the cheapest protein supplements currently available. Unfortunately you get what you pay for in this world, and that includes protein powders. Cheap powders generally contain a lot of filler content and are much lower in pure protein than better quality products. Obviously this doesn’t mean you should spend a fortune on protein supplements, but it is worth spending a little more and purchasing protein from a reputable brand, as this will help you achieve your fitness goals much easier.
